Speaker 1:

Is there a major life transition benching you? I know you may be asking what's next? What's my purpose? What if? Because I've asked those too. Welcome to the Start your Comeback Podcast. I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure. Hi, welcome back. You're listening to episode 35.

Speaker 1:

Last month we talked about empty nesting, graduation and retirement. These are all huge transitions for us, with a wide range of emotions. We go from the shock of it all to the limbo of not knowing how to maneuver the steps or the feelings, to finally daring to open the door and re-enter a world with endless possibilities. I've been there and know the validity of it all. Naming the loneliness, the fear and walking through the grief of these transitions is long and hard. Here's the proof Ten years later, I'm living an abundant life suitable for me. I enjoy my kids, my grandson and all the outdoor activities. I have a super close friend group that holds me accountable.

Speaker 1:

So today is a resource episode and I want to list a few resources that walked me through those times and some that I recommend to my clients. This, of course, will not be an extensive list because the podcast would be longer than you care to listen to, so let's just jump in Number one. This book came out right as I was struggling with the fact that my ex-husband had just attempted his life a few months prior. It gave me such hope and I know it will for you too. It's called you Will Get Through this, by Max Lucado. His warm style of writing will encourage you in your faith. And just remember I'll put all the links to all these resources in the show notes.

Speaker 1:

The next resource, number two, is a book titled Forgiving what you Can't Forget, by Lisa Turkhurst. This is a must read on forgiveness, because to begin to heal the art of forgiveness is a monumental endeavor. You can't do it without it. It's not easy. However, lisa's approach through scripture and her own walk will guide you through. Number three the book Boundaries by Henry Cloud. This book is a must with anyone who struggles with boundaries or has none. You're listening to someone that had none. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever learned to do. This is the go-to manual on how to do so. It will absolutely save your life. Number four save your life, number four. I Thought it Was Me, but it Wasn't by Brene Brown. Listen, any book by Brene is powerful. She has given us all permission to be vulnerable and to let go of perfectionism and the idea of what will people think. Trust me when I say people will judge you by what you walk through, and this book will give you the sense of freedom to work to find you and your passion for what's next.

Speaker 1:

Number five divorce care. Now I went straight to their website just to give you an idea of what it says. Divorce care is, and word for word from their website it says divorce care is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. It's a 13-week video-based support group program that you'll be able to find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for your decision making. Now, when you go to their website, it will help you locate a group near you. I have a very close friend who leads a group here in the North Dallas area. If you are interested, you can reach out to me and I'm happy to share the information with you.

Speaker 1:

And finally, the resources for empty nesting I shared in episode 33 and I will put that link in the show notes. I also want to put the links in there to the first episodes that discuss shock, limbo and re-entry. These are detailed about the three different stages we walk through when we are going through a major life transition. I hope you will take the opportunity to use some of these and gain some traction in your own journey. As always, I'm here growing and learning with you.

Speaker 1:

Please don't hesitate to reach out and start your comeback. I'll see you next week and we will be talking about Father's and start your comeback. I'll see you next week and we will be talking about Father's and Father's Day. I'll see you next week. Hey, thanks for listening. I don't take it for granted that you're here. You didn't listen by mistake. If you want to reach out, you can DM me on Instagram at Tony Thrash Until next week. Remember, there's still time left on the clock.
