Speaker 1:

Is there a major life transition benching you? I know you may be asking what's next? What's my purpose? What if? Because I've asked those too.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Start your Comeback Podcast. I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure. Hi, welcome back. You're listening to episode 45. Last week I talked about what a game plan is and how it would help you reach the goals you've set. I also told you I would talk about a couple of transitions I've gone through this summer. I promise I'll get to that, but I felt the urgency to move it back a week. So, instead of today, next week you will hear about my life this summer and the transitions that I went through and how I've chosen to deal with them. Then, after that episode, the last week of August and the first week of September, you'll have a two-week little series with my friend Dana. You won't want to miss any of these episodes, but today the urgency I'm feeling is about not giving up.

Speaker 1:

You may be listening today and feel like throwing in the towel. You may have lost your desire to continue your pursuit of whatever goal you've set for yourself. Let me just say this Don't Of course it's taking too long. This don't Of course it's taking too long. You've just received your fifth rejection letter for college, or a book you're trying to write, or a job you're pursuing, or you're retired and are tired of watching reruns of a cooking show. You've seen every episode of Don't give up, of don't give up. Here's why I say that If the desire is there, then the desire fuels the hope of you reaching what you want.

Speaker 1:

Whenever we reach for our goals and begin the quest, at some point the honeymoon ends and we become discouraged and start doubting whether or not we will ever get to where we want to be. In my particular transition of divorce 10 years ago, I made very little money and I had to stretch and manage money very tightly. I had little margin to do things like go out to a nice dinner or go to a movie or maybe buy new shoes. Every penny was watched and managed. I never thought I would get to a place where there was more opportunity to have more margin in my life.

Speaker 1:

The honeymoon has ended and you're starting to doubt and begin the slow slide into a pit Doubt's. Not a bad thing until it overrides every thought of success. It does call us out on what we believe, the choices we make and our ideas. It causes us to do a self-check of these things, or a gut check, if you will. We can't stay here very long because doubt will steal our don't give up attitude and cause the pit to get larger and deeper.

Speaker 1:

Don't give up. Stick to your convictions, make adjustments to your game plan and put one foot in front of the other. And this is huge. And let me tell you why. And let me tell you why, even though they're small steps, you are still moving and are not stuck. Remember who you are and know that these obstacles are just that obstacles. They may slow us down, but they don't break us. We adjust and problem solve, but we don't give up. Be positive. Keeping a positive outlook allows us to see the path, even with the obstacles blocking it.

Speaker 1:

It took me seven years to make more margin in my life. In my mind, it took forever, but I didn't give up. Obstacles are hard, life is hard, pain is hard. Obstacles are hard. Life is hard, pain is hard. Don't give up. The reward makes it so much sweeter when you accomplish what your purpose is. We can't accomplish our purpose if we choose to give up. Your game plan may need to be adjusted or you may need to pivot, but this is no reason to quit. You can do the hard thing. I believe in you. Remember, obstacles get in our way, but we are going to take a hammer and chisel them until we can move forward, but we're not going to give up. So if you're listening and today was particularly hard and you're thinking about giving up, why don't you just stop for 24 hours, get a good night's rest and wake up tomorrow and maybe tweak your game plan and make the next step toward reaching that goal? And if you're stuck, then hit the link in my calendar, in the show notes, and let's talk about it and let's see if we can build a game plan that will help you move to where you want to be.

Speaker 1:

That's it for this week. So join me next week. Remember as I discuss my transitions this summer and what I've done to work through them. And then in two weeks, my friend Dana is going to be here for a two-part series that will help you work through the judgment that you get of walking through divorce specifically. She has amazing insight. You will not want to miss this. Have a great week and I'll see you next time. Hey, thanks for listening. I don't take it for granted that you're here. You didn't listen by mistake. If you want to reach out, you can DM me on Instagram at Tony Thrash Until next week. Remember, there's still time left on the clock.
