Speaker 1:

Is there a major life transition benching you? I know you may be asking what's next? What's my purpose? What if? Because I've asked those too.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Start your Comeback Podcast. I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure. Hi, welcome back. You are listening to episode 57. Raise your hand.

Speaker 1:

If you are a mess right now, or think you are a mess Good, then I'm not alone. We are a hot mess right now everyone. There are no exemptions. With a highly contested election looming, I feel we are all teetering on an edge and there's no one to keep us from going over the edge. That's pretty much as political as I'm going to get.

Speaker 1:

We are in the midst of personal meltdowns and we have no validation for where we are. We cannot articulate any viable reason for our state. It's tough and we're struggling. I was writing the other day. I remembered Ephesians 2.10. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew and crushed Jesus so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Speaker 1:

Masterpieces, wow. You see, we aren't really the mess we think we are. We are the masterpiece in the mess we are. We are the masterpiece in the mess. This puts a whole new spin on things. As a masterpiece in the mess we do the things that masterpieces do. We show the world how to stand in the mess so that our future grandchildren and their grandchildren know how to stand. We model what to do. We continue to influence generations and change the way people look at Jesus. We are so original that once you've seen us, our love influences you. A masterpiece defines a whole set of cultural values and is brilliantly above reproach values and is brilliantly above reproach. You see, we have to remember to act like a masterpiece, not the mess. We are masterpieces created by God to influence the world in a loving, non-judgmental way. You see, masterpieces stand the test of time. They endure because the artist's skill, subject matter and craftsmanship will endure through the latest fad. And let me just say this here and remind you, you and I, we are not a fad. Masterpieces speak to every generation and our mission is to show the world.

Speaker 1:

The artist who created us, the woman at the well, is a clear example for me. Jesus could and had the right to condemn her, judge her and tell her off, but he didn't. He spoke the truth and love to her and she realized then she was a masterpiece. Then she was a masterpiece. She then brought the rest of the town to him and her story is still a masterpiece today. You see, you are a masterpiece even if you feel a little messy right now. You're a masterpiece even if your life is not gone as planned and is currently spinning out of control no-transcript. You are a masterpiece even if you've lost your job and are wondering what's next. You're a masterpiece even if you are in shock or in limbo.

Speaker 1:

These things don't change who we are, but they could and may change our circumstances for just a minute. You see, as messes we tend to over-control things, trying to control everything around us our jobs, relationships, children and, really, god. This is typical and apparent, for who messes are? We become an overnight sensation in the insecurity of it all. We fight to get what we want and believe our way is the only right way. Ask me how? I know let's just stop. The only way out of this messiness is to pause and learn to slow down. You see, when we're in shock, we cannot make a rational decision. We base our decision on our emotions, and I've learned the hard way. This is not a great idea.

Speaker 1:

Let me give you five little things to try right now and see if it helps. The first thing is to control the easy things like the laundry, the kitchen, cleaning it up or making your bed every day. This will remove some of the overwhelmness. Number two listen. This is a learned trait. We tend to create a mess because we don't listen. Learn to hear what is not being said and sometimes it's just okay to keep our mouths closed. Rest, do whatever is best for you, don't apologize for it and don't come up with excuses to avoid it. Number four cry. It will be one of the biggest releases you will ever do. To this day, my children make fun of me because I cry over the craziest things. Number five laugh. I love this more than anything Sarcastic, dry humor that makes me laugh until I can't breathe. These days, the memes are just outstandingly hilarious. These things help to remind ourselves we are real, breathing, moving people. I can't guarantee this will make us less of a mess, but it will remove the stigma of being a hot mess. Control the simple things. Side note, I'm trying to control the creatures who continue eating my plants on my patio.

Speaker 1:

You see, the world is always going to be a mess, but we don't have to be Right now. Even in the middle of the biggest mess of our lives, we are still the masterpiece. We just have to remember what masterpieces do Be, that it's what you were created for. The day we stop being a mess is the day we reach full masterpiece certification. No matter, remember who created you and why you were created. And, as my boys would say, stop listening to the haters. They don't really know. There is a way out of the mess. It is a simple step of creating a game plan to create a path for you out of the mess you find yourself in. It won't change your masterpiece status, but it will remove the garbage in your way. It is a simple but profound way to help you see. Clearly, in the middle of your mess, you see masterpieces have to be cared for, tended to and protected, otherwise, over time, they will fall apart. You are not meant for that. Your game plan will get you off the bench and moving into your life again. You want that right.

Speaker 1:
