Speaker 1:

Is there a major life transition benching you? I know you may be asking what's next? What's my purpose? What if? Because I've asked those too. Welcome to the Start your Comeback podcast. I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure. Hi, welcome back. You're listening to episode 65. Last week we discussed redefining resolutions, how we needed to make a perspective change in how we view those. The bigger and more overwhelming they are sometimes, the less they get accomplished. We broke it down a bit and now I want to talk to you about the three D's. The first D is called the dream.

Speaker 1:

Several years ago, nine to be exact I had a dream to be a life coach and help others reach their goals and dreams. I was doing it anyway because I was coaching basketball and tennis, and somehow coaching sports goes hand in hand with live coaching. In fact, I use a ton of sports analogies because it applies to both life and sports. At the time, I had zero dollars for the certification and knew it would have to wait. One day I received a package in my apartment complex office. I received a money order covering the entire cost. I had no idea who gifted this to me, but this was a huge sign for me. This was on the heels of another big miracle that God had already done for me, but I'll save that story for another episode. I signed up for the certification and went through the whole process of becoming certified. It was a dream come true for me, so let's talk about that.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes we have to dream, because this is our starting place. Without a dream, we are stuck in the day-to-day with no hope of getting out of the rut we are in. Dreaming is an awesome thing. Personally, most of the time I keep my dreams to myself and only share them with those closest to me, but I found that if I look at the resolutions big picture, I become overwhelmed that the accomplishment won't happen. For some reason. I don't even see where I need to start. I begin to think there's absolutely zero way that, from where I am currently standing, I can get there, to the finished or accomplishment of the resolution. This type of thinking for me anyway, ultimately leads to complete surrender to Netflix, comfort, food and safe places. Let's be real Procrastination at its finest. I become fasciated seeing the big picture and then fear overtakes the everyday choices that chisel the path towards the dream. And when there's no chisel, there's no path. And then, all of a sudden, year-long goals take a complete shift from appearing delightful to utterly daunting. What are long-year goals anyway? Modern Americans consider their year-long goals to be resolutions. While the dreams of resolutions are easy, the disciplines resolutions bring are the difficult part.

Speaker 1:

Dreaming is one of the things that brings hope and an eagerness to look forward to and ahead. You see, we all have dreams. Sometimes it's just stuck in our head. It's there because we're afraid to say it out loud, because of what others might say or think about us. You see, without some sort of goals attached to the dream, it just stays that a dream without any hope.

Speaker 1:

So I guess the question I have for you is this is your dream attainable? Is that resolution attainable? Are you willing to share it with someone? Are you willing to put some action steps and build a game plan to help you succeed to make that dream, that resolution, a reality? Because once you've shared your dream with someone, then it's more than just a thought. You now have someone who will ask you about what you're going to do about your dream or what you're going to do about that resolution. One of the things that you might want to consider doing is hiring a coach so you can put manageable steps into making that dream, a resolution, a reality. You can put manageable steps into making that dream, a resolution, a reality, Because building a game plan, or establishing a game plan, is essential to making your dream or resolution a reality.

Speaker 1:

It is unanimously agreeable that resolutions are all around overwhelming. Why? Because they're a result of a wild imagination. However, a wild imagination doesn't necessarily equal accomplishment. It's a rather basic beginning. We automatically deem resolutions or our dreams as unattainable because we constantly refer to the end goal, not those small steps in between the beginning and the end. So here's an action step for you today. This is the one area that you need to think about and process. Be bold, Share the dream with someone and the next week, tune in as I talk about the second D, which is the decision.

Speaker 1:

We are so close to Christmas. I've gotten all my presents wrapped and delivered to my kid's house for the celebration which, you need to know, never happens. I don't know what about this year, but they're all done and delivered. It is my grandson's first Christmas and, while he's still too young to understand it's going to be such a blast to watch him and celebrate with him. You have exactly three days left to finish up your shopping. Enjoy your time with your family and please know that if you're in the middle of a transition, I'm asking you to take another bold step and plant yourself with good friends on Christmas Day. I'm celebrating with friends on Christmas Eve and then see my kids Christmas Day.

Speaker 1:

Merry Christmas. I pray you will see joy and some laughter this weekend. I'll see you next time. Hey, thanks for listening. I don't take it for granted that you're here. You didn't listen by mistake.
