Speaker 1:

Is there a major life transition benching you? I know you may be asking what's next? What's my purpose? What if? Because I've asked those too. Welcome to the Start your Comeback podcast. I'm Toni Thrash, a certified life coach, and I want to share the tools and practical steps to help you create a winning game plan to move into your new adventure. Hi, welcome back. You're listening to episode 89.

Speaker 1:

For the past few weeks, we've been deep in the trenches, talking through doubt, decision-making and what it really feels like to sit in the thick of transition. Some of you are navigating divorce, some are staring down an empty nest and some are trying to make sense of a career that no longer fits or a future that looks nothing like what you had planned. Here's the truth. Transition is uncomfortable, it's messy and it doesn't show up with a clean checklist and easy answers. But you don't have to go through it empty-handed. Today I want to share something practical, something you can reach for when the ground starts shifting again or as it's shifting out from under you right now.

Speaker 1:

This episode is all about resources for those of us in transition. There's books and podcasts and therapists who can help you walk it out with more strength and a little more clarity. But let's start with therapy First. Let's remove the shame. You don't have to be in a crisis to seek help. In fact, if you're in transition, it's smart, it's mature even to have a sounding board. Therapy saved my life. Therapy saved my life. So I'm going to give you a few contacts, a few solutions for the therapy part of this podcast. Todd Daynard he's my personal therapist. I trust him implicitly and just so you know, all of these contacts will be in the show notes.

Speaker 1:

Let's talk about my therapist, todd Daynard. Todd literally saved my life. God used him to speak to me and counsel me and show me things that I was very blind to. He's obviously someone I personally trust. The second place is your church home. Yes, it's still one of the best places to find solid, faith-based counselors who get both the spiritual and emotional weight of what you're walking through. And the thing is is, if your church home doesn't have someone who can immediately help you, they have a long list of trusted counselors and therapists. They can provide for you counselors and therapists. They can provide for you Planting Seeds, counseling and Coaching. They are located in Frisco and in Prosper. I've seen the good work they are doing in our community, kelly Hoxie. She's consistently recommended as one of the Frisco's best. I'll leave all of this information in the show notes for you to grab. Remember this is a non-negotiable for me. Like you, must go to therapy.

Speaker 1:

Now let's talk about a few books that I have read over the course of the last 11 years. These are not books that I just pulled off of a reading list, but I have highlighted dog-eared, and they have traveled with me through some of my hardest transitions over the last 11 years. The first one is it's Not Supposed to Be this Way by Lisa Turkhurst. It's raw, real and full of reminders that God isn't absent in our disappointments. A great read. You Will Get Through this. By Max Lucado A gentle, truth-filled nudge that survival is possible and so is joy when you get to the other side. Empty Nest Awakening by Ruthie Gray. I had the honor of working with Ruthie and this book is gold if you're trying to rediscover your purpose after the kids have moved out. Finding Joy in the Empty Nest by Jim Burns Especially great for couples looking to reconnect and reimagine their relationship. Post-parenting. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown A crash course in giving yourself grace and reclaiming authenticity Great read. Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. She'll remind you that vulnerability isn't weakness, it's the birthplace of strength and leadership. It's the birthplace of strength and leadership.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and yes, here's just a few podcasts to help as well. I mean, you're already listening to one, so here are just a few more I recommend adding to your rotation. Now, please understand, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of podcasts. If you don't like the ones I mentioned, please find some that will. I would love to know what those are so that I can share those with my clients. The first one is retired. Now what the retirement answer plan If your transition involves stepping away from the workforce or shifting into a slower pace of life? These are solid.

Speaker 1:

The Divorced Christian Podcast For those navigating the heartbreak of separation with faith in the mix, divorce Etc, hosted by the X Experts, th and Jessica, bring real talk, legal tips and empowering insights for anyone facing or rebuilding after divorce. They're direct, no fluff, and it's the kind of resource I wish more people had in their back pocket early on. Here's the deal you don't have to use every resource. In fact, you may not like my resources, but you do need to use something. Don't white knuckle your way through a transition. Don't believe the lie that you've got to be strong and go it alone. If you're rebuilding, if you're grieving, you're redefining or just trying to make it through the day, you're not weak for needing help. You're extremely wise.

Speaker 1:

Before I wrap up, I want to share something personal. I've got something exciting in the works. I'm currently writing my very first book Start your Comeback. It isn't a fluff piece. It's been born from years of real transition, mine and others I've walked with. It's full of stories, tools and game plans to help you rise again when life knocks you down. Whether you've just hit the floor or you're already halfway up, this book is for you.

Speaker 1:

If you need help navigating your comeback, please reach out. I would be honored to walk alongside you. That's it for this week. Join me next time as we take on one of the most intense emotions in any life transition Anger. Oh yeah, we're going there. You won't want to miss it. Until then, keep going. Don't you dare stop in the middle. Your comeback is still unfolding. Call your therapist. I'll see you next time. Hey, thanks for listening. I don't take it for granted that you're here. You didn't listen by mistake. If you want to reach out, you can DM me on Instagram at Tony Thrash Until next week. Remember, there's still time left on the clock.
